What are some landscaping ideas using non-plant decor?

We have about a 4' x 25' stretch of rock that is overgrown with grass and I don't want to dig it all out to add plants. How can I make it attractive with other decor?

Wet it and cover w black plastic and leave in place for two weeks. That should kill off the weeds. Then remove the plastic and place pots of plants on the top the stone for color. You can sprinkle the stone w. Baking soda to sweeten the stone and raise the ph so that nothing grows in the stone.

Throw some native wildflower seeds down amid the grasses, plant ornamental grasses in clumps, place an interesting piece of yard art and/or bird feeders, bird bath amongst the rocks

Maybe you can cover it with white tiny chips. They are a cheap marble subproduct, sold in bags in garden centers. In the awesome Japan House Sao Paulo, Brasil, they used it to make a path to the expositions. In some places, it slopes higher to blend on the side of a concrete bench , also covered with glued chips. Get inspired and good luck! I kill weeds with boiling water.

Dig out some of the rocks and grass and put a cute table and chair to sit at. Then add stakes with "bugs and things" made out of cement, wood, wire, beads, ceramics, a bird feeder, etc. for the rest of the "garden". If inclined, paint some of the rocks (can do some in glow-in-the-dark paint) to have a colorful corner. Hometalk posted a blog on painted rocks a few days ago.
