In my opinion do not.I did and now there are runners everywhere. I would plant it in a very large barrel if you want it by the house and train it on a trellis

I suppose it is fast, thick growth, attractive to hummingbirds and bees, attractive foliage and flowers, and ability to spread to cover an area. Good luck!

Personally, I am against growing vines close to my foundation. It attracks spiders, a lot of them!!!

I wouldn't plant trumpet vine near my house at all. It's invasive and the vine will crawl all over your home in a very short time, potentially causing damage to the siding and shingles AND giving critters and bugs a direct highway to inside.

Trumpet vines can be very invasive, and will most likely end up being a problem if you plant them near your foundation. I would recommend planting them in a large container with a tall trellis that can be moved as needed as it gets larger and larger. That way, you can place it near your home without having to worry about it taking over.

There are absolutely NO PROs for planting a trumpet vine close to your home, other than (if you are lucky), you'll see hummingbirds a bit closer. Trumpet vines are very invasive and pop up everywhere in your lawn, through your foundation and bricks, etc. Once you have trumpet vine in your yard, you will play like heck to get rid of it. As Michele P said above, if you must have it (and they are really nice for birding), plant it in a container and don't allow the seed pods to drop.
