Planters potted with pretty perennials should work great. Or maybe a type of dwarf pine in two to three pots to have green throughout the winter. Easily movable when access is needed to the area. Good luck!
I would use some potted plants and perhaps some kind of seating area, you don't have to go fancy, just a few white plastic chairs and tables would even work and you will have another area to sit and relax.
Do abstract art on the piece of plywood. Hold in place with a plant in the urn.
