What's the best way to string up lights on a fence?

  • Some people have purchased small brackets to attach to the fence so the bulbs do not come into contact with the fence itself. Others use screw in cup hooks, others just "drape" over the fence. It is a matter of personal preference. I have used brackets and cup hooks. Bulbs last longer.

  • We use the tiny brass cup hooks. It hangs them beautifully and keeps the lights securely on the fence in windy conditions.

We recently used zip ties and small tree 'poles. ' we zip ties the poles to the fence posts then strung the lights from.pole to pole. You can use painted pvc pipe too. The trees were for a rustic wedding so they fit in nicley.

I would go with hooks you can eith screw in or little brass picture hooks that you would normally press into drywall. You could attach them to a fence with a small hammer

Plan a safe outdoor way to plug into the electricity. Use the longest strands you can of the kind of lights you want so you won't have more than three strands of lights plugged in end to end. Use thumb tacks or tiny nails to hold the lights on the fence until you have them arranged and spread out the way you want them. Then use a heavy duty hand stapler to bind the lights to the fence. The staples are wide enough so that they won't hit any wires. You will need pliers to get the staples out. Best wishes 😇

I have some string lights attached with brackets and some string lights just hanging from the fence. It's a matter of what you thin looks better. Do a little of both! or try using nails so you can move around when you want to and not have to take the brackets on and off.
