It depends on what area you live in. I'm in Missouri, and ours stop coming to the feeders around the end of September. The birds have a long flight to warmer climates for the winter, then they come back about April 1.

When their natural food sources dwindle. (flowers) If you feed them beyond that you are risking their dependance on your source and they will be physically at risk.

  • When they depart for the winter. I have some that live here year round, so I have feeders up for them.

Hello. You can keep feeding them until you no longer see them. Others may come migrating through. I just keep an eye on mine and then when I haven't seen any for 3 weeks I stop.

I keep my feeders filled from April until they migrate for the winter. I am in Arkansas, and the first birds arrive in mid April. If the feeder is not out, they come to my window as if to let me know they are back In the Fall, I leave them out until they stop feeding. It is early October and they are hitting the feeders hard as they will soon be leaving and, I believe they are storing up energy for the trip.
