Create a beautiful artichoke for your front yard, using materials you can recycle! I've had it in my flower pot, by my front door for about five years now and it is holding up perfectly!
You are going to want to gather a lot of plastic spoons for this project.
You will also need a styrofoam ball, a dowel rod and glue.
I started by squishing the styrofoam ball against the table to make it less round and more artichoky.
Like this...
I then added spoons to the very top to get things started. I cut the spoons, but left some of the handle to be able to insert it into the styrofoam.
I then removed them, added glue...
...then reinserted them.
I then added the dowel rod, realizing it would be much easier to to work with if I had it on the dowel rod.
Then I kept adding more and more spoons.
Notice how the spoons are not sitting tight...
Once I had added enough spoons, I used a rubber band to keep them all in and them put it upside down on a cup. Then, I was able to add the remaining spoons and let it all dry.
Once dry, the shape held perfectly!
I then used a black spray paint, that sticks to plastic. That was for the base color.I then followed up with an artichoke green and I added a little bit of wire at the base, just to finish it off.
