So our daughter gave us 2 round pieces if wood! And i knew right away what I wanted to make with one of them.

So here are my supplies that I will be using! The round piece of wood, Heirloom spray paint. a Piece of dowel, and acrylic paints.

So I began by wiping of the round piece of wood, it did not need sanding ( of which I was glad ) then I gave it a coat of paint, and let dry.

Once it was dry, I then marked the center of the wood, where my husband will drill for the dowel

I then marked all the lines and numbers I needed for the sun dial!! Which were from 6 am - 6 pm.

I continued to draw the picture I wanted on the bottom half of the Sun Dial!! And began painting the picture, and painted my lines and numbers.

Here it is all finished, this is the front view!

Here is the right side view so you can see the dowel.

And, here is the left side view!!

How do you know what the angles are to tell the time

Like others I wonder if the shadow lines up correctly with the time of day. Nice and pretty though and a clever idea if it works.

Now there’s something you don’t see everyday! Really cute and very functional! Actually I made something a few years back that was too heavy (as far as I was concerned) to be hung on the wall so I bought a table base to put it in. This would make a perfect sundial for outdoors, so thank you for sharing this wonderful little project!
