Last year I posted a project that I did to help our TV dish blend in more with my garden flower and shrub border. It really made me grit my teeth every time I looked at it sticking out like a sore thumb in my hydrangeas and late summer/fall flowers. I recently did some additional decorative painting to make it even a little less obtrusive and thought I'd share the results. The original paint has held up great for more than a year and it hasn't interfered with our TV reception at all. We own the dish so there's no issues about problems with the satellite company , in case you wondered.

There it is! I wiped down the dish with a wet cloth and dried well. The old paint was still in very good condition.
I used some different shades of green that I had on hand to paint the dish surface last year. In retrospect, I wish I had bought a "leafier" color instead of the blue-green that it turned out but it's OK. The old garden gate hides the pole and mandevilla vine and moonflower vine climb up to offer more coverage.
I added some abstract hydrangea blooms to the surface to echo the blooms on the adjacent shrub. They were painted using a sponge stencil brush to make the circles and a permanent paint pen to make the dots. It's not a Monet but I'm satisfied with it.
Suggested materials:
  • Latex acrylic outdoor paint   (Had on hand)
  • Sponge stencil brush   (Had on hand)
  • Paint pen   (Michael's)
