Upcycled Beehive Birdhouse
How to make an upcycled beehive birdhouse using two plastic containers. I used butter containers, but you can use other plastic containers. This is a fun upcycling project for both kids and adults.
I used rope to cover my birdhouse. It blends in well in the trees, so it helps to keep predators away.
You will need:
- 2 empty 15 ounce plastic containers
- 2 large washers
- 1 eye bolt with nut
- Decorative rope
- E6000 adhesive
- 3 small zip ties
- Marker
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue
- Wood burning tool
Start by placing the containers on top of each other and use the marker to draw the opening.
Then use the wood burning tool to add small holes to the bottom of one container for drainage. Add a hole to the other container for the bolt.
Then use the hot tool to remove the hole from the top and bottom pieces.
Add the bolt to one end. Use washers inside and outside to secure.
Assemble the birdhouse. Use the hot tool to create small holes to add zip ties. I used three around the perimeter.
Use hot glue to attach the rope. Wrap it around until you reach the hole. Then cut it so the hole remains open. Wrap until finished.Cu
Cut a short piece of rope to cover the hole.
