Upcycled Farmhouse French Inspired Bird Feeder
Instead of throwing something away, upcycle it instead! That's what I did with a candelabra! Come check out a Farmhouse French inspired bird feeder.
Have you ever come home from a trip to find something you treasured wasn't where you left it? We came home to our candelabra on the ground. Instead of being disappointed, I upcycled it into a bird feeder.
I love moss and how it makes things liven up. First thing I did was hot glue on the moss to the base of each arm on the candelabra. I wanted it to look messy and not perfect. Not that you can really get moss to look perfect.
Next you'll add your small clay pots. These were vintage French pots found at an antique store but any clay pot will work as long as it has a hole in the bottom. If your upcycled chandelier doesn't have pokey stems, then you can hot glue your clay pots on the arms. Make sure the arm is clean or the pot won't stick for long.
In order to not poke out any birdy eyes, I stuck a pencil eraser on the end of the pokey stem for bird safety. I couldn't live with myself if I injured a little bird! Simply push it down as far as you can without going all the way through the eraser.
Fill it with birdseed and watch the birds enjoy a feast! I love how it turned out. I wonder if the birdies realize how lucky they are getting to use genuine vintage French clay pots?! Hmmm. I do bring it in when it starts to rain. Birds don't like wet seed. And another hint! To keep the squirrels from thinking it's a rodent buffet, use Safflower or Nyjer seeds. I've been told Squirrels don't like those but birds do!
If you'd like to see the links to get the actual supplies or for the seeds, check out my blog post which is linked below.
I hung ours up in the front bed. If you don't want to feed the birds, you could always add dirt and flowers to the pots instead. ;)

Hello Cindy,
Your bird feeder is just lovely. I would love to see a photo of the whole feeder. I went to your page in case there were more/different but they were the same. It would be special to see the birds enjoying your wonderful feeder. I will check back just in case you do post some.
kindest regards, Tita
