Vintage Water Pump Idea in the Garden

Karen Nichols
by Karen Nichols
I found this old hand water pump on the side of my yard. I wanted to do something with it. So, I found an area in my backyard that was lacking. I sanded, cleaned and painted the water pump.
Prepped the area to work this in and chose a little edging fence to corral it all. Filled area with some small river rock and clear gem rocks.
I chose for a color, for the water pump, a deep burgundy that would go with a little broken bird bath top that I had kept. Added a little silver butterfly (that used to be a broach), created a water drop from faucet using a large jewelry bead suspended with cork and thin copper wire. All just using an outdoor adhesive. Mounted the pump to redwood pieces to give texture and height.
I really love how it turned out!!! Now I have color where there was none.

Great job, we had a functioning one for our garden when I was growing up. I'm sure my dad still has it, he keeps everything. I'm going to try something like this. Thanks for the idea

@Repurpose Diva , thanks! I wanted to do a fountain but I am in California.....won't let you run any fountains where I live due to drought. :( BUT, I love that now I have a little place for the birds to have a drink on me.
