Gazebo Bar Ledge and Extra Seating
We have a rather small backyard and need all the extra seating we could get. So, we added a counter/bar ledge to the gazebo where we could have some stools to sit at and a space to put a drink or plate when we need space or extra seating.
Extra seating for our small backyard and added ledge with some bar stools while not taking up alot of room either. It's nice that the stools just tuck right under and don't take up room.

I recently added this wall addition to the gazebo for a place to mount our t.v. inside and then to hide the propane tank for our fireplace behind it. (See my previous post) and check out more of the process for this wall on Instagram @tanglewood_homes
Start by measuring your Gazebo from one post to the other where you want to add the ledge. We used 2x12 -10 foot Spruce.
This is the wood we used because we had it on hand leftover from a previous project.
Measure the dimensions of the post and trace that onto your piece of wood that you're using for the bar ledge. (Make sure you draw it on the side that you want to use as the bar ledge, the side that you will slide in between the 2 posts).
Draw the dimensions you measured onto the wood, where you will be cutting it out.
Make markings for where you will cut the corners out.
Using a skill saw, cut the area you marked and measured. This will give you a corner that you will slide in between the 2 posts where you will later screw into the posts.

Next, you will sand the ledge down before staining.
* I also gave it a coat of Thompsons Water Sealer since it's going to be outside and needs protection the weather.
We used end cuts to make a brace for the ledge to sit on. Use the measurements of your post for the two pieces. I cut these on a 45 degree angle, but you don't need to, you could cut them straight.
Brace that will go on either end of the 2 posts for the ledge to sit on.
Make pocket holes from underneath the brace, where you will screw into your bar ledge.
Make sure it's level before you screw it in.
* we need to add a support beam in the middle, but with our stores still being closed, we will wait.
Ledge is on, weather treated and stained with Minwax Golden Oak (one coat)
This ledge with the stools gives us some extra seating to eat or watch a game on t.v.
