Easy

We just moved in the new house and one of the first projects we did was to take off the old key lock and replace it with an updated keypad. Sleek, secure, and super easy to install!

Before...

First step is to remove the original deadbolt. This step is easy, just twist off the screws on the back side.

This reveals the locking mechanism on the inside of the door which can easily be removed.

Now all that's left is the actual lock.

Remove the side screws to take this part out.

Ok so here's the new keypad. We bought a Kwikset smart lock which we've used before and 10/10 recommend. It syncs to an app and can be easily controlled from your smartphone.

All of the necessary parts are included and super well organized. Step by step directions are included. BYOD (bring you own drill).

Next step is to install the new locking device. Screw it in on the sides, set to the 'locked' position.

Screw on the back plate.

Add the front keypad and thread the cable through the back plate.

Attach the back side of the lock (4 screws is all this takes!). Download the app, connect the bluetooth.

And finally add the back cover. That's it! This whole process took us about 30 minutes.

...and After!

Is it simple enough for anyone to do? Are they really secure?

My old lock is also living his last days.

I wanted to ask who installed your lock? A professional locksmith or your husband? I ask because my husband doesn't know how to repair/maintain things around the house.

If it is truly complicated, I'll call my locksmith near me sw1. They have never let me down even in emergency cases that required instant attention. The fact they have workers available 24/7 is a huge plus to me.
