How to Replace a Mailbox Flag on a Brick Mailbox

Do you dislike taking care of home maintenance problems? Anyone guilty of putting off those boring projects in favor of fun, crafty ones?!

We fall into the category of home maintenance procrastinators and the most glaring of those boring projects was right outside Steph's front door!

The flag on her brick mailbox was faded, rusty and basically barely hanging on. We put off replacing the flag because we really weren't sure how we were going to drill into brick.

We finally got the right tool for the job so we decided it was time to take care of this little project!

Watch the video to see the process in action!

Yeah, this mailbox flag had seen better days. It was very easy to remove because it was basically falling off. We used a drill/ driver, but the screws could have easily been removed with a screwdriver.

We put the mounting plate onto the brick and determined and marked the screw hole placement.

Steph used a Bosch multi material drill bit. These are designed to go through tough materials like this brick. That piece of painter's tape marks the depth needed for the screws.

The screws, which come with the replacement flag kit, are hand tightened into place with a screwdriver.

The last step is to put the flag into place and tighten the screw.

This quick home maintenance project is DONE. It really only took a few minutes and really ups the curb appeal of Steph's mailbox!

The new flag makes a big difference in the look of the mailbox--it's a big improvement!

After!
