DIY Tin Can Pendant Lights

I was challenged to make something from a tin can. I could be any kind of can, such as a soup can, coffee can or paint can. I decided to make a trio of lanterns for my porch. For this project I used 3 large tomato cans. The tomatoes were placed in a zip lock bag in the freezer for future use.
A tip my husband shared with me was to use a bit of masking tape to help keep the drill bit from moving when you are drilling into the can.
I wanted to paint my cans and decided to give them a faux verdigris look, using copper spray paint, followed by layers of blue and green craft paint.
I purchased this trio pendant kit online to use with the tin can lanterns.
Using a template helped create a pattern for the lanterns but you could really just do this freehand if you want.
In the end they turned out pretty nice and add a great ambiance to our summer porch decor.
