Easy Paper Cup Lanterns
I have to show you guys how to make the cutest paper cup lanterns. A few days ago, we decided to take the kids camping and I threw these lanterns together in 5 minutes before we left. They were so easy to make and the kids loved them. This is one of those crafts that you could make while camping by just packing up a few supplies and having the kids make them while you set up the tent.
Pull our your paper cups. I got these from Target for our lemonade stand (which hasn't happened yet), but decided to use them for the lanterns since they are so cute.
Make a couple holes at the top of the cup with a hole punch.
Run a piece of yarn or twine through the holes for hanging.
Now it's time to add some decorations. I used ribbon and pom poms for my decorations, but you can add buttons, tiny toys, yarn, etc... If you are doing this while camping you can find items around the campsite to add to your lanterns like small pebbles, leaves, small sticks or flowers.
I used a low heat hot glue gun do add the ribbon and pom poms, but you can use a glue stick or craft glue for this project also.
I packed up my cups, made sure to bring the LED candles and we went on our way.
We hung them around our campsite and added an LED candle to each cup. They looked adorable just like this.
We were surprised at how bright and pretty these lanterns actually were, once we turned them on. They completely changed the feel of our campsite and were such a lovely addition.
We took these into our tents when the night was through and it was time for bed. My daughter Scout brought the cups home so she can hang them in her room because she loves them so much. You can use these on your porch, make a garland out of them, hang them in the bathroom or indoors for cute party décor... so many possibilities with this craft.
