Garden Chandelier Inspired by Hometalk

Here is a project I completed inspired by other projects I have seen on Hometalk!
I had this garden basket hanging in my kitchen as a fruit bowl... It was a great solution to having fruit available for the kids at all times without giving up any counter space! I chose this one because it was the end of the season last year, and it was what was available and cheap.
One problem.... The big hole in the bottom. It was always a balancing act keeping the oranges and apples from falling straight through. So at the beginning of lawn and garden season this year, I bought a new one to use as a fruit bowl, which freed this basket up for a Garden Chandelier project...
I knew I wanted to have "crystal drops" hanging from my chandelier, but I couldn't find any while thrifting, and buying new ones didn't seem cost effective. Time to get creative! At the Dollar Tree lawn and garden section, I found these 'shiny garden hangers' with the wind chimes. I knew I could take them apart and get what I needed for much less cost. So I bought six in Blue. (They came in Yellow and Purple as well, but Blue was what worked for where I want to put the light)
I removed the crystal drop from the bottom and put the other pieces aside.
I bought some spray paint that closely matched the color of the crystals, and got to painting. (Rustoleum Painter's Touch 2x Ultra Cover. It is my go-to because it's level of coverage is great. The color was Wildflower Blue.) I painted both the basket and the chain & hooks.
I got the top of a basic solar light out of the garage (the dog chewed the stake, but, of course, kept the solar light part, because you never know) It fit in the hole of the basket perfectly without falling through.. What Luck! I used the jump rings that came with the shiny garden hanger and attached crystals to the cross bars of the basket to prevent them from sliding around.
Lastly, it needed one more thing.. a centerpiece. I had super hubby drill a hole in the plastic bottom of the solar light. Using parts leftover from the shiny garden hangers, I created a hoop with a blue wildflower in the center. I hung it from the drilled holes in the light.
And here it is all assembled! It will hang above my future fence mural (to be completed sometime this summer!)to add to the whimsy by day and shine some light down on it in the evening...

Great idea. I have a few solar lights that broke off from the stem and didnt know what to do with them.Thanks for the great idea

I went a little bit farther and put a smaller basket with flowers in it to hang under the upside down basket.
