DIY Outdoor Drop Cloth Curtains

by Suzanne
Create your own outdoor oasis this summer with DIY drop cloth curtains! They are super easy to make, inexpensive and beautiful!
Drop cloth can be found in the paint section of your local hardware store. Wash and dry the canvas before sewing.
After measuring the length needed, start by sewing the rod pocket.
Next, use all the extra length to make your hem. Don't cut any excess off. The extra fabric will help weigh the panels down so they hang better.
Before sewing the hem, make a pocket for weights (washers) approximately every 12" across the width of the panel.
Done! Waterproof your curtains before hanging. A camping type waterproofing made for canvas is perfect. You can see what brand I used on my blog.
Your new drop cloth curtains will be perfect for added privacy from prying neighbor eyes.
Sit back and enjoy your summer on the patio! Check out the entire tutorial and details on my blog, Sprinkled Nest.

Did you need a heavy duty needle on your sewing machine ?

Great job looks so nice and adds much needed privacy! I'd like to ask where you got your camping weatherproofing and how is it applied? I've seen some in spray cans for outdoor furniture cushions but it would takes so many cans to do canvas curtains! Do they have it by the quart or gallon so it can be sprayed on more economically? Thanks for the great tip with the washer's used as weights. I wouldn't have thought of that and am about to sew my own set of curtains and tiebacks for our pergola very soon.
