It was time for my husband and I to take our patio from beige and boring to something more along the lines of the interior of our house which is a little bit more dramatic. We originally had an 8 by 10 rug that covered our patio. But since we moved that to a different area we needed something for the patio that didn't cost much since we are limited on funds. So we decided to stencil our patio floor. Boy are we so happy we did it! With a little bit of time something that was so plain looks so amazing!

We decided to do a beige and black stencil which we thought would give it a dramatic look.

after we cleared the furniture off the patio we were left just with your run-of-the-mill concrete. Definitely nothing exciting! First we swept then hosted off and let it dry.

We chose a paint that is usually used for decks that has a little bit of texture in it so when we come in from the pool we won't slip. It is a sand color which was the perfect start to the project.

This is the stencil pattern we chose.

I started from the left and worked towards the right alternating areas where I rolled the paint onto the stencil. Since we had a crease in the concrete I would just work that area as part of the stencil itself.

It took about six hours on my hands and knees to stencil this. But I think the finished product is absolutely beautiful and exactly what my husband and I were trying to achieve! It's so easy and durable!

After letting it dry overnight we put I furniture back on and it is now completed! Like I said we love it because it is so super easy to take care of. Hope you try it on an area of concrete! You'll love the results!

currently we have indoor/outdoor carpet by our pool and I hate it!!!! Could this be done after ripping the carpet up-or would I need to sand and such to prep it?

I keep saying that I am going to do this on my patio Lori and I keep putting it off. Yours looks so cute that you have definitely inspired me to get this done before spring this year!

Thanks Kathy! You have to do it! I kept putting it off and once I finally finished it I was so happy! I sit on my couch and my family room and look out at it all the time and I absolutely love it! Send me a picture of yours when you do it!

Lori it’s stunning! I’ve been looking for an outdoor rug, but I have new puppy and was concerned about my little 🐶 chewing on it. This is exactly what I need to do. Thank you for sharing !
