    I am not sure how Epsom Salt ended up in these weed killer recipes. Epsom Salt is Magnesium, which PROMOTES plant growth. Plain salt (sodium) dehydrates plants. The vinegar is an acid combined with table salt burns and dehydrates the weeds. The dish soap is added to make these ingredients stick to the weeds better, thus holding the vinegar/salt solution on the leaves longer in order to kill them. If you look at the photo above, the Pennington Epsom Salt states "for vigorous lawn, plants, vegetables...…." In other words, Epson salt fertilizes weeds, table salt kills weeds.

    and table salt sterilizes the dirt. it can spread so if you use it, you risk affecting surrounding plant growth..boiling water will kill plant growth in driveway cracks and walkway spaces. then spread a pre emergent in those spaces..
