Try essential oil Lemongrass. Mix in spray bottle with 10 to 20 drops and the rest water.
My husband burried garage door springs all the way around the fence line to keep his dog from digging under. But it wasnt until he starred taking the dog for walks everyday before the dog stopped digging. He still digs a little but that was crazy. Guess they dig out of boredom. Especially big dogs. I mean, he still chases the occasional bug under the dirt, but he's not destroying our yard everyday
according to the program Lucky Dog on CBS TV Saturdays you bury the dogs poop in the hole he dug and he will dig there no more
I agree with the more exercise comment but, you need to train the dog not to dig. You can train on your own time! Make a small shaker of coins inside a container. Soda or beer cans work great! Cut up a hot dog into four big pieces, while your dog is not around (can't see you), bury the hot dogs about an inch down in different areas, let the dog out, hide somewhere close where he can't see you. As soon as he starts digging for the hot dog, shake the can loudly and yell NO. Bring the dog in, wait about 15 minutes and repeat. After two times of doing this, repeat again but shake the can and actually throw it at the dog while it is digging (hit him with it if you're a good shot :-) ). Next day or as soon as you have time again, skip the just shaking and go for the shake and throw. It may take a few times but, I have trained many dogs to stop digging this way and IT WORKS!!!!!!
If your dog has favorite dig places bury some tin foil about 1/2 to 1" down. They don't like the sensation or sound. Works on furniture and counters too.
Please don't screw with your dog like gail suggested. That's just wrong on so many levels. Wonder what the neighbors must think....
