I had ants in my kitchen and found that the most helpful way is to close up any holes they are coming in from. Silicon caulk works well. It takes just few minutes and then i refresh it at the beginning of the next ant "season" (usually summer)

Make your own bait! It gets carried back to the nest and kills the queen. Soak a cotton ball in the following solution and place in the middle of the "line" near wear they come in.

    Ant Bait

    1 1/2 Cups warm water

    1 1/2 TBSP Borax

    mix well

    add 1/2 Cup sugar

    mix well

    Store in airtight container

You need to keep this out of the reach of children & pets as it is toxic. If you need, you can put the cotton ball in a small plastic container with a few ant sized holes drilled in the bottom sides.

If the ants are in your house, I would use the commercial products on your hardware store's shelves...they are ant killers and can be placed in the path of ants anywhere. We have all sorts of ants in our area, and these products work on all of them quite well.

Try icing sugar and borax laundry detergent. Mix together and sprinkler near ants. It is environmentaly okay and safe for kids and pets

  • packaged cornbread mix that says it is sweetened and put it where they are coming in if you can find it, or even on your counter in a small lid. They will take it to the mound, everyone will eat it and die, they can't digest the cornmeal, but will take it because it is sweetened. Little goes a long way.
