No, they most likely won't hurt your veggies. They are sap suckers, and usually prefer box elder trees, and the like. Who would have known? :)
They stick to Box Elder trees....I think they use them as a nursery, but they do not kill other plants.
They have a huge nest in my exterior walls. I didn't find anything out about them eating veggie gardens. I found that a safe way to remove them is use a shop vac filled about 1/2 way with soapy water. I sprayed them with soapy water and they did die, but it's a lot of work and I couldn't get them all.
