How do I protect my pillows from bed bugs?
I forgot to take a photo before I washed my pillows but they were encased in a zippered cover and then a pillow case. We just returned from a trip and stayed in a hotel. My pillows had little tiny pinpoint brownish red dots on them, but I don't understand how the bugs could have gotten on the pillow with the zippered cover and case because the stains did not appear on them at all. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Lin,
The bed bugs do not take up residence only in beds, they are in the curtains, carpets, couches, chairs, sofas, luggage...you name it, they are there. They move swiftly and infest in areas where you can and cannot imagine. If you see further signs and have the traditional symptoms of their bites, in groups of 3, affectionately called breakfast, lunch, and dinner, get professional help to get rid of them. Home remedies usually do not work.
Was anyone bitten by them? If so, I'm afraid you carried them home. I agree, seek professional help.

Sounds like bed bugs that you brought home from your trip.
Bed bugs have a low tolerance to heat. If the idea of bed bugs hiding out in your pillows is keeping you up at night, put your bed bugs at all stages of life.

All the pros are using a bed bug spray called Crossfire. It is VERY strong and you’ll want proper protection to spray. Read the instructions and follow them carefully!
If you haven't actually seen any bugs then I'm wondering if it could be something else, like maybe some kind of mildew.
