If you empty and replace the water in your bird bath at least every 5 days, mosquitoes will not be able to complete their life cycle.
Tractor Supply sells mosquito dunk bits. Most places sell mosquito donuts which are intended for ponds so you have to break them into bits as they are too big for a bird bath. Summit mosquito bits 30 oz. 14.99. Tiny pellets, drop in a few every time you change the water. Not harmful to humans or animals. Made to break the cycle of the mosquito eggs so they do not hatch. Otherwise be vigilant of dumping the water and adding fresh every two days as this will kill any laid in that period of time since they need water to live.
Hi there! I found this article, but we just change the water every day and we've never had a problem. Hope that helps! http://dcmosquitosquad.com/ways-to-keep-mosquitoes-out-of-bird-baths/
I use a few drops of vinegar in the water.
