Chemicals should be kept as far away from any life supporting aquatic system as possible as they would affect frogs, turtles, fish, birds, etc. That said, perhaps you want to look into the Japanese beetle traps? "

When your garden is being skeletonized by Japanese beetles, those pheromone traps sure do look tempting! And if you hang one in your yard, you’ll certainly be rewarded with a full bag of squirming beetles on a regular basis. But do they actually reduce the number of beetles in your yard, or attract more to it?" See details here and good luck! https://www.todayshomeowner.com/do-japanese-beetle-traps-really-work/

Nearly all insecticides are harmful to fish. My method of choice would be to blast the plants with water from the hose every two or three days for a week or so. You'll knock the beetles off the plants and disrupt their reproductive cycle. Bonus: if any of the beetles fall into the pond the koi will eat them!

    I wouldn't recommend doing so.

Thank you all! I'll try the water blasting technique and the traps first.
