Hi Carroll! It hasn't worked for me. Citronella and herbal bug spray has.
I know if you hit them with the spray bottle they don’t like it.
The only thing that I have ever found to work besides a fan, is a thermocell. It's a small device that you use with scented pads and butane. They work in even the worst conditions. (I have a swamp in my backyard.)
I don't know about windex but Listerine does.
