  • Roll up your sleeves and get ready for several weeks of intensive cleaning from top to bottom. And your property needs work too.

I spray vinegar around the perimeter of my property and base of my house once a month. Needs to be reapplied after every rain event.

House- vacuum daily, I mean thoroughly do the furniture, the rugs, the dogs, cats everything. We then ran all the bedding we could through the hottest dryer cycle we had. Did it once a week for a month. Then I used an exterminator. We had tried all the home remedies and nothing had gotten the job done. The squirrels had given them to our 3 dogs and us. I was a mess.

It ended up cheaper, and faster to get the professional than to try all the other products that lied and said they would solve the problem.

Fleas have a complex, four-stage life cycle. If you want to get rid of pets and keep them from coming back, you have to address every stage of this cycle. Spraying once is not enough. Just be careful not to overdo flea control. Too many toxic products in and around your pet can be harmful or even fatal.

You didn’t say ifyou have pets and if so, what kind, because flea control differs for different species. One thing I learned is that humans can bring a lot of fleas into their homes, so treat the yard.

Years ago I had a rambunctious dog, so I clipped his collar via a short chain to my chain link fence and used a hudson can to gently spray the treatment I started with. Kepthim on flea meds moving forward. Hopefully this helps along with the other great suggestions.

Diatomaceous Earth. It is a natural remedy for fleas. It takes a few applications but works effectively. Have lots of patience. Fleas hatch out every 2 weeks, so apply DTM Earth every 2 weeks.

Raid sells Flea Foggers. I would Fog the entire area a couple of weeks apart, and wash everything in hot water.
