Yesterday ants started invading my microwave. I need a safe method for cleaning the microwave and getting rid of the ants before they invade the kitchen.
You can get a bottled product called Terro at Home Depot and Lowes. Works well.
Ant Powder!
I always use a product called Terro.
Don't waste time on homemade recipies or Terro block. Knock them out in 24 hours with Optiguard gel. Sold on Amazon. Must kill the queen to eradicate and all of the other nonsense takes days IF it even works. Sprays only kill the workers. Only need a few BB sized drops of gel in their path. GONE.
We've always used vinegar. I put it where the ants come in as a deterrent. Works great, safe indoors.
Ortho Self Defense will kill ants in the house or on your deck, etc if you want to kill ants in the yard you need an outside ant killer
As strange as it sounds, I've had success by sprinkling Jiffy Cornmeal Muffin mix onto the ant-infested areas. They evidently carry the "food" back to the queen and as it expands in the ant's bellies, it causes death. Try it, you'll be surprised as I was!
You could try this: https://sweettmakesthree.com/natural-ant-killer/
I use Terro.
Terro is a collection of 6 ant bait stations designed to draw the ants to them. Here the ants feast on the food that is going to eventually destroy them, but not instantly. The ants consuming the poison in the ant trap will take it back to their colony where the real damage is done.
Using an ant spray repellent or ant trap works well, like these:

Sevin granules sprinkled on the mound will take care of them.
Indoors use Terro liquid bait traps and outdoors use diatomaceous earth. They both work near instantly and the latter is all natural and pet safe.
You can make use of white vinegar which is available at all grocery stores. Try using a 1-to-1 vinegar/water mixture to clean hard surfaces, including floors and countertops, wherever ants are likely to travel.
