You'll have to wash down everything, feeder, whatever you used to attach the feeder, even the tree limb or post you have it attached to. The ants leave a scent trail to follow back when they find something worth "harvesting". Use plenty of soap and water. As an added precaution spray the base of post or tree with ant spray.
Try covering the wire with vaseline or oil that the ants cant climb on
smear vick vapo rub all over the place it hangs/connects to pole or hanger just so it's not around the hummingbirds
I sprayed the wall and hook to the feeder with my non-toxic ant repellent, Greener Ways Bug Killer.... its lemongrass, citronella and ceder oils. I also use EcoLogic Bug Killer which uses the same formula. Victor;s Ant Killer is also good its mint oil.
People say to wrap tape with sticky side out around what the feeder is hanging from but I haven't tried it.
