poison it with rodent pellets if you can't shoot it .... they are tough and can be vicious ... a family of 5 lived under my shed ... 2 succumbed to poison, I have shot 1 ... it usually takes several shots with a small caliber. In the past, I have trapped one in a large live trap .... I'll never do that again ... had to shoot it anyway because I could not handle the trap with this panicky beast in it. Now I got two more to poison or shoot. Good luck.

I used a few moth balls tossed under mine when I found a new tenant there. Of course I had to endure the stink for a few days, but all ended well. lol

Lure him out with a line of veggie scraps or veggie leftovers leading out to a far corner and then close off the route he can use to get under your patio room. Secure all areas of access ASAP. Have everything ready. The only other way is to live trap it, take it far away, then close off access points and hope he doesn't come back.

I used chicken wire around my shed to keep out all critters especially groundhogs.

Then I put vinyl lattice around the shed for a better appearance.

    Hope this helps.

It's not funny! But I'm laughing. As far as I know I've never been around groundhogs, and certainly not under the house or patio. I hope your patio is a raised deck and not a concrete slab. In the last few weeks here in Mesquite, Tx, next to Dallas, neighbors have complained about snakes, moles, salamanders, nutria (like giant beavers), and feral hogs. All of these like the cooler, safer dirt under our houses, porches, decks and patios. One man got Animal Control out, but they refused to trap a 20-pound nutria because it is part of the indigenous wildlife. Maybe you can trap the groundhog and take it to a better place. Unless you have a fearless bulldog or other brave dog, I don't have any other suggestions. Best wishes 😇

Yikes! Try some of the solutions listed on this site: eggs, pepper, castor oil, fencing or traps. See the whole site for more information you can arm yourself with as you take on the groundhogs! http://wildlifeanimalcontrol.com/groundhogkeepaway.html

    Good luck!
