reduce shade maybe?
You will never get rid of them if you have a shady yard and get a lot of rain, it is the shade and lasting moisture that let's them thrive. You need to catch them when they are young before they release their spores to reduce the number that you get. My front yard is always shady, but I rarely get mushrooms anymore since I watch and get rid of them when they are small. I hope that this helps you!
You have to eliminate the extra moisture in the ground. Not an easy thing to do with all the rain we get. Our backyard always has them sprouting up. We have no way to get our soil dried out. We don't have an area for a French drain that many have suggested in the past. So we just keep pulling them out.
Remove the caps as soon as they appear, dispose in a plastic bag and place in trash. This will prevent future reproduction. Nitrogen can help detour mushrooms so check with a local nursery for product options in your area.
Pick them, mowing may allow the spores to spread further into the lawn. Always pick them before they get very big so that they don't have a chance to mature and release spores.
I was having trouble with mine coming back until I went to a local DIY Lawn Service store. See if you have one in your area. You may be able to find something that truly works!
