How can I get rid of spiders in garage or outdoor shed in Conn.?

I have had success by mixing peppermint essential oils with water in a spray bottle and spraying around the ceiling and corners of the room at least every week or so. Bugs and spiders don't like the smell of peppermint.

Send them my way. I could use their expertise in keeping insect population down. That's what they are there for in the first place

I wouldn't recommend this for a house or garage, but for an outdoor shed I think I would try. Lowes sells a "bug bomb" for sheds. You set it off in the middle of the shed, scoot and shut the door. After a specified time, you open the door and let it air out. I have the same spider problem but mine are black widows. I know people prefer more "natural remedies" but you could do this just once to get a good start and then maintain with less harsh solutions.

Try peppermint spray. Amazon sells an organic peppermint spray Ecosmart organic home pest control. Bugs hate peppermint, repels roaches, spiders. I like the smell although not everyone does. Also no chemicals all natural.

Spiders HATE peppermint oil. Clean off the webs and egg clusters, then add about a teaspoon of peppermint oil to a quart spray bottle and thoroughly spray the area. If you can grow mint plants around the shed, that will help keep them from returning.

Wiping at the webs does not get rid of the spiders. Chances are they were off the web the minute they saw you coming. I spritz them with Windex, then once the webs are dry, I wipe them down with a broom. I have had good luck with Windex doing in the spiders, you can give it a try, then spray the peppermint oil around to keep them away. Actually they will be found anywhere there is food for them to survive, meaning bugs, so they are actually being helpful in killing other bugs. I had a garden spider that ate all the mites off of a hibiscus plant where a small part of the plant had them. He disappeared as soon as the mites were all gone.
