How can I get rid of winter ants?

I use Terro ant bait. simple and easy. they bring it back to the nest. takes a few days.

Seal up any gaps under the sink. They are looking for water. Also try some ant traps.

CAnn, do you have any houseplants? Sometimes they are a source of ants. When I have ants around my bathroom sinks, I clean the entire countertops and sinks and fixtures every day for 4-5 days and that seems to end it. If I see ants on the floor, I assume they came in from outside. After mopping the floor with PineSol or something similar, I go to the closest walls. I pour a narrow stream of cornmeal or cornstarch with a little powdered sugar mixed in. The ants will be attracted to the sugar but killed by the cornstarch. Those are my solutions. Hi, CAnn, the ants may be attracted to food residue. Try wiping sink area and walls with full strength distilled white vinegar to interfere with their scent trail.

Use the vjnegar to clean the interior and hinge areas of your dishwasher.

Use powdered Borax soap, warm water, Hal cup sugar. Put it in low containers..pill bottle lids etc or just little pools on the bare counters. It attracts them and they bring it back to the queen and kills her.

Terro bait station/trap. Usually takes 2 days. Cheap at Home Depot, Walmart or wherever....never clean up dead any bodies esp the first couple days. They take their dead back to the next and poison the colony. After you see no more activity then clean.
