How can I keep ants from infesting my hummingbird feeder?

    we got these inverted cups that the ants cannot get to. really neat. this is a cup that hangs from the hook in the tree. the ants can't figure out how to go down to go back up. these are only a few bucks. Ours are green.

    I saw another person ask the same question the other day and some one answered this. She said to hang the feeder with wire and they can't hold on to that and slide off if they try. I don't know if it works, I need to try it too. I've had my feeders over run with ants. I've found a couple of nests and put corn meal on them. It kills the ants because they can't digest it. They take it back to their nests and it kills all of them.

  • I used to put Vicks Vaporub on the spot on the branch where the feeder hung. The would not cross it.

    Try using Vaseline on the hanger. Refresh the Vaseline every time you refill the feeder.
