There are many plants that help-marigolds, citronella, lemon grass, lavendar. I plant many of these all around my outside area. I also mix up water and rubbing alcohol (50-50) and then add several drops each (at least 5) of lavendar, cedar wood oil, lemon grass and citronella. I spray this on myself, my pets and the outside furniture when we are going to be sitting out there.

Set out a bat box to encourage the critters to come live near your abode. They consume tons of insects nightly.

I use Citronella candles, Citronella Geraniums and a bug zapper and that works really well. If you have a real large area to cover Intersperse the other plants also throughout the area.

  • I use 2-3 drops of pure Lemon Grass essential oil in my little table top fountain on my porch, and have had zero mosquitos since using it. It's a lovely light Lemon scent rather than the heavy oily scent of citronella.
