Birds really don't like shiny objects - if you have any decor that is aluminum (wind chimes?) that you can hang as close as possible to your wreath, that will help. You can also make a spray that is pretty effective - put shredded chili peppers in water in the sun for a few days. After a few days, put the mixture in a spray bottle and spray your wreath generously. Spray every few days. Good luck!
Maybe a sheer light netting would discourage them.
Use small tin pie plates tied back to back. When the wind blows they bang together and scare the birds, also if you use bright red or yellow in your wreath it should keep them away. It works in our garden when we first plant it. The birds love to eat the seedlings. So we use the pie plates tied with red and yellow cloth and no more birds in our garden. Good luck.
