Spread something they do not like, such as orange peels. A plastic mat is made with lots of points sticking up to be uncomfortable to birds or cats,etc. Perhaps you could make something similar they would not want to walk on like upturned broom pieces or sticks branches, dowels etc. They do not need to be tall - you are looking for discomfort/discouragement.
Sprinkle vinegar over the area the cat likes the best. If the cat is jumping a fence to get in your yard, douse the fence at that place with vinegar. If you don't have an outside dog, but you can borrow or foster a dog for awhile, that might be enough to break the cat's desire to choose your yard. But cats are strangely persistent and stubborn. Vinegar has worked for us with different cats over eleven years. Best wishes 😇💖
