if you mean within the pots themselves Vera you could dress them with a mulch such as bark or gravel which will help. I also means if a seed does germinate it'll be easy to pull out than if it starts growing straight into the soil :)
Hi vera, there are a few things you can do to stop weeds growing:
Add organic mulch around the pots. Bark or wood chips work really well or you can put newspaper down and add soil, grass clipping or pebbles on top to hide the paper. Another way is to plant a pretty shade loving ground cover around the pots.
if you mean around the outside around the bottom -- your weed eater works if the pots are too big to move.
