It’s a baby black snake. But it’s still a snake.

Get a brick. If it is poisonous, you will be glad you smashed it's head in.

Can you put up a baracade to make sure it is headed towards the back door? Then take a long broom or something else and tap hard on the floor behinf\d the dishwasher. Maybe that will scare it out the door. Or call the game warden.

Yes I would gall the game warden first , they have things to do this with. They may charge you .

often just have to take the appliance outside and watch till it leaves as it might find some way in,I know with a stove that is what had to be done.it's likely very frightened. maybe a yard stick with ppl with brooms handy to push it towards the open door. or pick it up if you get it out from under, black snakes are harmless ,smashing it's head in not needed.

You can't reason (coax) with a snake. And you can't stand watch around your dishwasher 24/7. If he sneaks out while you are not looking then where else might he hide? Florida must have a ton of "critter gitter" services and I would give them a call. Good luck.

Yea, the a/c man came over, and he got it lickity split! What a fighter. Animal control doesn't get snakes out of homes. They help dogs and cats. But they sure were nice and concerned too. Thanks a bunch for your idea, because I was going to just watch the dishwasher all day... and not eat because the snake had reign of the kitchen. It turned out to be a southern ring-neck snake. Non venomous. The underside was bright orange. Oh Joy, he is gone and enjoying his own meal :)
    Thanks again!
