Ants, spiders, mice and the like HATE PEPPERMINT. Use a 60/40 solution of water and peppermint oil and spray around outside all window sills, and door frames and inside a small spraying in the bottom corners of the door frames. I promise it will work. I have a place in the country and I hate spiders and ants and since my pest control company told me to do, I have not had one issue. You can dilute the mixture even further as you start to,see your problem subsiding. I only spray about once every two to three weeks now. You'll be amazed.
Sprinkle corn meal in your yard.
They hate cinnamon. Put cinnamon sticks or powder around.
You could make a spray with a dash of dish soap, 2 cups water and 2 Tbls. of Tabasco sauce, which I use to keep my roses bug-free. Ants are bugs ... so it should work for them too.
I sprinkle flour around infested area and they are gone in about 20 minutes. If I notice ants on cabinet top I sprinkle flour around and they leave and dont come back. Outside find ant hills and sprinkle flour all around the hill.
Or Home Defense spray.
I use Terro in the liquid form inside and outside, it wipes out colonies. If you use it outside, keep it covered so it does not get rained on, It may need to be reapplied often.
