I purchased a garden owl, and move it around the garden every other day. I also sprinkled red pepper flakes around them. It is working for me. Another way is to put deer netting around the plants which can be a pain when you want to pick them.

never have tried the pepper flakes. I did put a fence around the tomatoes and put a top used chicken wire fencing or that what I call it.. lol. Think it works most of the time but there is a spot a squirrel got under. So I took care of that spot and they should not be able to get under. It is such a hassle with that fence when I need to pick the tomatoes.. need something easier.

Growing garlic around your t. plants might help. Also let minced fresh garlic bulbs steep in water over night, strain, add garlic water to watering can . Use to spot water around your plants, avoid getting on fruits and veggies.

Good luck with that. I haven't found anything short of poison or a loaded gun that will deter squirrels and they are probably both illegal. If you could put up a fence that has small holes and put a top over it as well. They would probably even dig under it. I once read a book about a man in England that tried all kinds of complicated contraptions to keep them away from his bird feeders. Everything he tried, no matter how complicated, it would only take a few days for the most complicated to be overcome by the squirrels. It was a funny book but pesky squirrels are no laughing matter at my house because they eat bird seed, peanuts and sunflower seeds and their hoggishness costs me lots of money.

Yep have done the poison when I was having trouble with the squirrels being on my deck. It did work and got rid of the ones on the deck. I have pets so I can't have poison on the ground. As for the loaded gun, they are on to us after the first shot. Now as soon as we go out they go hide. I really do hate squirrels!

I read somewhere that they are really looking for water to drink and if you put a pan of water at the base of your tomatoes, they will stop eating them. I did that and it worked like a charm!! I was thrilled!
