Feeders are available with 'bee guards" to keep out bees and ants.

looked up bee guards and they don’t seem to fit my feeders. Will buy new feeders. Thanks

Maybe not place where they are in direct sun most of the day. Do not let your mixture sit for more than four days so the liquid does not get sugar gummy. I tilt my feeders every day. You will see the fluid fill up the base that has been emptied from feeding. Hope this helps. My mixture is 4 to 1, but will be changing to 3 to 1 in the next 30 days.

Thanks, I’ve always used the 4 to 1 mix, does the 3 to 1 mix make a difference?

It is recommended before they leave around middle of September and October. I also use my own sugar to water ratios and bring to a boil for 1 1 1/2 minutes Then let cool and refrigerate when storing. The three hummers I have are drinking a lot everyday now from my five feeders around my house.

bees are a vital part of gardening. Bees need to eat too...they don't bother the hummers at all.

The ones in my garden don’t let the hummingbirds close to the feeders. I Have 2 feeders and there were at least 15 bees in each.
