Spray it down and wash it up
The only way to permanently keep deer away from anything you do not want them to eat is to build a fence higher than they can jump. Deer have an extraordinary ability to know where food is, and to get at it.
As for airborne wildlife, any scheme other than netting smaller than what they can fly through, is simply for the birds.
Vineyards have been fighting this for years and years, the best answer is netting and fencing, Flipturn is right!
