Place an old shallow container such as a pie plate about 3 foot away from the cabbage plants, and fi it with beer. The slugs jump in, get drunk and drown! Another way, save egg shells. Sprinkle a barrier abound he plants. The slugs will not cross as they will be cut.

Put a cup of beer out and then check it in the morning. You should see them in the beer. Keep changing it out every night for a week. That should take care of them. You can also sprinkle egg shells around the cabbage heads. They don't like them.
