Years ago, we lived near a marsh on the coast of Georgia and had so many snakes. We would buy lime and pour it around the perimeter of our yard, the idea is that the lime burns the bellies of snakes and they won't cross it. After a lot of rain, it should be redone. It did help and we cut back all of the brush and ground cover (such as ivy) that they like to hide in.
Remove shelter and food sources and the snakes will find somewhere more congenial to live. Clear out all brush/weeds and initiate a rodent trap/kill/eliminate program.
Welcome the snakes. They eat alot of grasshoppers and bugs that eat your gardens. We had a grasshopper infestation a few years back and every ones strawberrys and flowers and gardens were destroyed except ours because we had garden snakes . They were fat and my garden was spared with a bumper crop of everything that we had planted.
I agree with Jltathome
They say snakes are afraid of owls so maybe a couple of plastic owls will help to deter them.
