The best you could do is get fire ants to move. Not even the fancy chemicals kill them. Take your cooking oil and pour down the openings in the ant hill.

You can kill the queens by pouring boiling water down the ant hole. Just make sure to do this carefully, without disturbing the hill so as not to alert the colony or else they will disperse.

Ants do not ingest solid food. Have not tried it but have heard they hate cucumber. Try putting around hill and getting them to move.

Mix a little powdered sugar with a lot of baby powder and sprinkle on top of the mound. Worker ants will think it is food and take it back to the queen....all gone =)

Put some powdered Borax about 1/4 cup with about a teaspoon sugar The ants will bring it to the tribe and they will die off . It works for me . I measure by eye so not sure what the real rule of thumb on this . It is a safe laundry booster you can find in grocery store . I use on edges in doors after spring starts we never have ants in the house .

Try Bengal ant killer. Purchase at Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart. White, round, tall container with picture of Bengal on front. Sprinkle just enough to cover fire ant hill and edges. Walk away, they are gone! I have a pest control for termite protection. Told them about this and they share with others. Best stuff I've ever seen!! EVER! In Georgia, we have fire ants every where! About $13.00 for Bengal and no more problems!
