How do I kill poison oak/ivy in my yard without killing trees?

Will Epson salts, vinegar, and Dawn dishwashing detergent kill it but not harm a walnut tree and a dogwood tree? Don't have a goat but do need to get rid of the pesky plant!

Wear eye protection, long sleeves and gloves when working in the area. Shower immediatly after. Don't let your pets in the area. You can catch poison oak etc from the oils on pet fur!

If this is a small patch, you might consider putting a large piece of cardboard top it w/weight atop that. Usually covered plants die. To keep small trees from sprouting from the stump, turn a large can upside down atop it w/all edges of the can in contact w/dirt. Weighing it down w/a rock is a good idea.
