Are the ants harming the plants? Peonies and ants go hand in hand because they are attracted to the "sap" of the plant but do not harm the plant itself.
you can plant carnivorous plants around your garden like the sticky fern or the parrot pitcher plant or plant odor offensive plants like mint, tansy, common yarrow and garlic. Either or both solutions work great and keep not only ants but other little bugs at bay also lizards are extremely beneficial they love the taste of bugs and especially ants and termites.
I would first put them in a tub or take them outside and lightly spray the plants off. And maybe you should repot them first to get rid of any ants in the dirt.
