I have a lot of items and containers stored in my basement and the spiders have taken up residence around the edges of my basement and around the containers. These are not dangerous spiders. ( I live in Toronto area) However, I hate them and want them dead and gone. Do you have a way for me to get rid of them that is also safe for me to breathe in while living in the home?

I use Osage Oranges. They grow on trees and fall off in the fall. They work for me.

I had a skink take up residence in my basement the summer before last and didn't see any spiders. Last year he didn't come back but the siders did 😒

Absolutely peppermint spray. I also use peppermint oil to keep spiders & rodents out of our garage. I put the oil on cotton balls, then put the cotton balls into those mesh bags you get with onions or potatoes. I refresh this on a monthly basis.

Ive also planted peppermint around our home to keep those critters away from the house. We live in a very remote spot. In my profile it states Jerseyville, however, jerseyville is approx. 30 minutes away. That will give you an idea about how remote we are. our home is in a forest. So if this works for our home it should work for just about everyone.

use a quality peppermint oil. The oils made for aromatherapy aren’t what you want here, you want a true essential oil. But it works great and is not expensive.

Thank you, Laura Wands, for describing the method you use. I knew to use peppermint oil, but wasn't quite sure how to keep it fresh. I'll be saving those mesh bags now, to keep critters from setting up housekeeping in the garage.

Glue boards, you can buy them at the grocery store, or walmarts. Safe for you, not for the spiders.
